The
Low Profile PCI PC Watchdog board is a short PCI card that monitors
a PC for hardware/software lock-ups to ensure maximum system availability.
It provides a solution for Telecom, ISPs, Voice Mail, File Servers,
and Industrial systems that occasionally lock up but must be available
on a continuous basis. This board has a universal PCI Bus interface
for 3.3V and 5.0V PCI systems.
The
card has the following features:
- PCI-X Compliant
- Now
supports ATX PCs without a reset switch.
- Low profile
design for Slim-Line PC cases
- Available
with low-profile (PCI MD1) bracket or a standard PC bracket
- Universal
Bus keyed for 3.3V and 5.0V PCI Buses.
- Eight
bytes of non-volatile memory reserved for user data to implement
simple software protection
- PC Watchdog
timer that can be set from 5 seconds to 1 hour via DIP switch or
1 second to 18 hours via software control.
- Eight
(8) I/O ports for enhanced PC Watchdog control and monitoring.
- Two on-board
relays can be programmed to generate a 4-5 second pulse or latch
on continuously after a PC Watchdog-initiated reset.
- Two (2)
general-purpose digital inputs.
- Two (2)
general-purpose digital outputs.
- External
PC Watchdog re-trigger digital input.
- Relay
contacts and digital I/O signals available on standard DB-25 connector.
- There
is a non-volatile memory for saving configuration data.
- Over
temperature circuit monitors the internal temperature of the PC.
- Two temperature
trip points.
- Trip
points can be modified by user software.
- Audible
alarm and external digital output for the temperature trip point.
- Programmable
options allow the PC Watchdog to hold the PC in reset after the upper
trip occurs.
- Two internally
visible LEDs show status of PC Watchdog board.
- An I/O
port allows the user to gain exclusive control of one relay from
a user program.
- Programmable
power-on delay to allow the PC to complete its initialization sequence
- Uses
the same API interface as the PN:1130 PCI PC Watchdog
The Low
Profile PC Watchdog board only requires that you have a PCI slot available
and a PC with a reset switch. The reset cable is disconnected from
the motherboard (CPU) and plugged into the PC Watchdog board. A cable
is provided to go from the PC Watchdog board to the motherboard. When
the PC locks up and the PC Watchdog times out, then it will perform
the equivalent of a push-button reset.
The PCI PC Watchdog ships with utility programs for control of the board.
Source code is provided for all included software. The PC Watchdog works
with most any operating system on a PC. Libraries and drivers are provided
for Visual "C" and Visual Basic under Win 95-98-ME-NT-2000 & XP.
It also has LINUX support.
Berkshire Part Number: 1134-LPF & 1134-STD.
